John Vernon Hedtke - Cats

The obligatory "Cats" page

I have two cats, Willow and BC. Willow is a large, fuzzy "Birman" cat. I got her when she was about 4 months old and radiantly white. Like many Siamese breeds, she darkened as she got older. (I also found out that some of the fur darkening is a function of body heat; where she's cooler, the fur stays whiter). Willow had four kittens, of whom BC is the only male.

BC (which doesn't stand for anything, mind you) is also large, but he's dark, dark brown—almost black in the winter—with a white triangle on his tummy. I found out a couple years ago that BC is a type of cat known as a "Tiffany."

BC and Willow both weight about 14 pounds. Willow is 11; BC is 10. Both of them drool a bit when they're happy, which is most of the time. Willow is shy and doesn't come out much when there are new people around; BC is a love sponge and will come soak up attention from anyone and everyone.

I'll be adding more pictures as I find them and have a chance to scan them. I have better of both of them.
